"Wind that Moves Us Forward" - Devotion for June 10, 2025

Image
Wind That Moves Us Forward 📖 Scripture: John 3:8 (NRSV) "The wind blows where it chooses... So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." 🌬️ Reflection Have you ever tried to control the wind? Of course not. You can’t bottle it or hold it in your hand. But you can feel it. You can be moved by it. The Holy Spirit is like that—wild, free, and always pushing us out of our comfort zones into places where God wants us to grow. The Spirit doesn’t just settle where we are; it propels us toward what we can become. What would change if you stopped resisting the Spirit’s direction—and let the wind of God move you forward? 🙏 Prayer Spirit of the Living God, blow through my life again. Move me out of comfort and into courage. Open my heart to your leading today. Amen. ✅ 3 Action Steps Try something new today that stretches your faith. Ask God to show you one area where you’re resisting growth—and take one step toward it. Go for a walk and pray with each step, ...

Fire that Ignites Purpose: Devotion for 6/9/2025

Fire That Ignites Purpose 📖 Scripture: Acts 2:3–4 (NIV) "They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit..." 🔥 Reflection The fire of Pentecost wasn’t just a dramatic sign—it was a divine spark of purpose. God didn’t pour out the Spirit just so we could feel inspired on Sunday. The Spirit was given so we could carry God’s mission into everyday life—at school, at work, at the ballpark, in our neighborhoods. The same Spirit that filled Peter and the apostles fills us. That means you are God’s answer to someone’s need today. You carry light into dark places. Power into weary places. Hope into broken places. So… where do you need to catch that fire again? 🙏 Prayer Holy Spirit, ignite my heart with your purpose. Burn away fear and doubt, and fill me with your courage to love, serve, and speak with power. Amen. ✅ 3 Action Steps Send a note of encouragement to someone who needs i...

Breakfast with Jesus: Rediscovering Purpose through Grace

Image
Breakfast with Jesus—Rediscovering Purpose Through Grace Based on John 21:1–19 It’s one of the most human, holy moments in all of Scripture. The disciples have returned to what they know—fishing. The excitement of the resurrection is real, but so is the confusion. What now? What comes next? Jesus is alive… but Peter still carries the weight of failure. He had denied his friend. He had sworn loyalty and then ran away. So Peter goes fishing. It’s what he knew before Jesus. Maybe it’s what he thinks he deserves now. But Jesus doesn’t let that be the final word. Early in the morning, as the sun rises over the Sea of Galilee, Jesus stands on the shore. “Friends,” he calls. “Have you caught anything?” It mirrors a moment from the beginning of their story—another empty net, another miraculous catch. But this time, it’s even more personal. Jesus invites them to bring some fish and sit with him. He’s already made a fire. There’s bread. There’s warmth. There’s welcome. And then comes th...

From Stuck to Sent-How God Uses Your Second Chance

From Stuck to Sent—How God Uses Your Second Chance Reflections on John 21:15–19 and Acts 9:10–20 Have you ever felt like you messed up too badly for God to use you? You’re not alone. Peter did too. So did Saul. Peter had promised Jesus, “Even if everyone else falls away, I never will.” But when the pressure came, he denied Jesus—not once, but three times. That failure haunted him. He knew Jesus had risen. He’d seen him. But restoration hadn’t yet come. He must’ve wondered, “Does Jesus still want anything to do with me?” Saul was worse by comparison. He wasn’t just a failure—he was an enemy. He hunted down early Christians, dragging them from homes and throwing them in prison. He stood by, approving, while Stephen was stoned to death. He wasn’t on God’s team. He was actively working against it. And yet, in both cases, Jesus shows up. Not with condemnation. Not with shame. But with a call. For Peter, it comes by the fire. Jesus cooks breakfast and asks three simple but powerful...

Sermon: "When Life Feels Empty" - March 23, 2025

When Life Feels Empty Psalm 63:1-8, Luke 13:1-9 In the series “From Brokenness to Wholeness” Have you ever felt like you were running on empty? I'm not talking about being physically tired—though that certainly happens to all of us. I'm talking about that deeper kind of emptiness. The kind where you wake up, go through your day, check all the boxes, and still feel like something's missing. The kind where life becomes a routine without purpose. I remember a conversation with a friend several few years ago. From the outside, his life looked perfect — successful career, beautiful home, loving family. The kind of life many people dream about. But sitting across from me at lunch one day, his voice dropped as she confided, "I should be happy. Everything in my life says I should be happy. But something's missing, and I don't even know what it is." Maybe you've been there too. Maybe you've worked hard to build the life you thought would fulfill y...
