Day 4 – Saturday, March 8, 2025

Scripture: John 4:5-30

Devotion: In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well. She comes carrying the weight of her past and the burden of being an outsider. But instead of judgment, Jesus offers her living water—an invitation to new life and belonging. Her encounter with Jesus transforms her story and compels her to share the good news with others.

Many of us carry invisible burdens—mistakes we regret or parts of our lives we wish we could hide. Yet, like the woman at the well, we are invited into a relationship where we are fully known and deeply loved. Jesus doesn’t turn away from our brokenness—He offers us living water and a fresh start.

What burdens are you carrying? Today, hear the invitation of Jesus: come as you are, and let His love bring you healing and renewal.

Daily Action Steps:

  1. Take five minutes to reflect on a burden you’re ready to release. Imagine offering it to Jesus.
  2. Share an encouraging message with someone who may feel unseen.
  3. Drink a glass of water today as a reminder of the living water Jesus offers.

Prayer: Loving God, you know my story and love me still. Help me release what weighs me down and open my heart to the living water you offer. May your grace renew me each day. Amen.

Breath Prayer: (Inhale) Jesus, give me... (Exhale) your living water.

But true security lies in God’s unchanging presence. He alone provides the strength that sustains when all else fails. Reflect: Where do you instinctively run when life feels unstable? How can you make God your first refuge? Pray:  God, be my shelter in every storm. Teach me to rest in Your unshakable strength. Amen.

"Purchase with a Purpose": Rummage Sale, Bake Sale, Lunch - June 6 & 7, 2025

  Purchase with a Purpose This weekend, Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, your purchases at the Monroe United Methodist Church will make a meaningful difference in the lives of your neighbors. The event runs 8:30 am to 4:00 pm each day. We have gently-used furniture, household items, toys, home decor, Christmas and other decorations, books, bicycles, and many other items, all reasonably priced. Visit us as we join the Monroe Community Garage Sales this weekend! Money raised from the Rummage Sale will help the congregation offer ministries to serve our community. Funds from the Bake Sale will provide food for local families through our ministry partnership with Monroe Church of the Nazarene's Food Pantry. Lunch sales benefit the local mission projects of the Monroe UMC.

Friday, August 8 – The Lord Over Chaos Read Genesis 1:1–5. In the beginning, the earth was formless and empty, darkness covering the deep. But God’s Spirit hovered over the waters. Then He spoke: “Let there be light.” From chaos came order, from darkness came light. God has been calming storms since the dawn of time—not only in creation but in hearts. His Spirit still hovers over our chaos, ready to bring life and hope. Reflect: What in your life feels “formless and void” right now? How might God’s Spirit be waiting to bring renewal? Pray: Creator God, speak light into my darkness and bring order to my chaos. Amen. x
