Lenten Devotion - March 9, 2025
Day 5 – Sunday, March 9, 2025
Scripture: Luke 4:1-13
Devotion:
In Luke 4, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness
where He faces temptation. For forty days, He is tested—tempted by hunger,
power, and identity. Yet, in every challenge, Jesus remains grounded in God’s
truth. He resists the lies and emerges from the wilderness empowered for His
ministry.
We all face our own wilderness seasons—times of uncertainty,
struggle, and temptation. When life feels barren or when we question our
purpose, it’s easy to lose sight of who we are. But Jesus shows us that even in
the wilderness, we are not alone. God is present, and God’s Word is a powerful
anchor when everything else feels shaky.
Where do you feel tested right now? What lies are you
tempted to believe about yourself or your circumstances? Today, let Jesus’
example remind you that your identity is grounded in God’s love, and no
wilderness lasts forever.
Daily Action Steps:
+Identify one negative thought you’ve been struggling with
and replace it with a truth from Scripture.
+Take a walk outside today and reflect on how God is present
with you in every season.
+Write down a prayer asking for strength in areas where you
feel tested.
Prayer:
Faithful God, when I walk through the wilderness, remind me
that I am never alone. Strengthen me to resist the lies that pull me away from
your truth. Help me trust that you are working even when the path is hard.
Amen.
Breath Prayer:
(Inhale) God of strength... (Exhale) sustain me in the
wilderness.
