Lenten Devotion - March 15, 2025
Day 12 -- Saturday, March 15, 2025
Scripture: Hebrews 4:14-16
Devotion: "For we do not have a high priest who
is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every
respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin." These words remind us
that Jesus intimately understands our wilderness experiences. The Son of God
himself walked through human temptation and struggle.
When we feel alone in our wilderness, this truth offers
profound comfort. Jesus doesn't observe our struggles from a distance—he knows
them from the inside. The wilderness of temptation, isolation, and testing are
territories he has personally navigated. Because of this, we can "approach
the throne of grace with boldness," confident that we'll find
understanding and help.
What are you struggling with that you hesitate to bring to
God? What weakness makes you feel ashamed or isolated? Today, remember that
Jesus has been there. Your wilderness is not unfamiliar territory to him. You
don't need to clean yourself up before approaching God—come as you are, with
confidence that you'll be met with compassion, not condemnation.
Daily Action Steps:
- Write
down a struggle you've been hesitant to bring to God, and purposefully
offer it in prayer.
- Read
Luke 4:1-13 again, imagining Jesus' wilderness experience and how it
connects to your own.
- Approach
someone trustworthy and share a burden you've been carrying alone.
Prayer: Understanding Savior, thank you for walking
the wilderness path before me. When I feel alone in my struggles, remind me
that you have been tested as I am. Give me boldness to approach you with my
whole self—my strengths and my weaknesses. Thank you for your grace that meets
me where I am. Amen.
Breath Prayer: (Inhale) Jesus, you understand...
(Exhale) and offer grace.
