Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025

Scripture: Luke 19:28–40

Devotion:
Jesus enters Jerusalem not on a warhorse, but on a donkey—a symbol of peace. The crowds shout, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” There is joy, but beneath the surface, tension is building.

Palm Sunday reminds us that praise can be loud and fleeting. The same crowd that celebrates today may cry “Crucify” later in the week. But Jesus doesn’t ride in for applause. He rides in with resolve, knowing that wholeness will come through brokenness.

What kind of king is this? One who moves toward suffering. One who refuses to use power for self-protection. One who enters the chaos with peace, determined to make things right—not through domination, but through love.

Action Steps:

  • Find a palm branch or green branch and place it somewhere visible as a reminder of Jesus’ peaceful power.
  • Write a prayer of welcome: “Jesus, I welcome You into my life, just as You are.”
  • Ask: What kind of Savior am I expecting? What kind of Savior do I truly need?

Prayer:
Humble King, ride into my heart with peace. I welcome You not just with words but with a desire to follow. Help me walk the way of love this week. Amen.

Breath Prayer:
Inhale: Hosanna, save us…
Exhale: Prince of peace.

  Monday 7.7.25 – John 21:1–14 Read John 21:1-14 here. Even after denying Jesus three times, Peter returned to fishing. Perhaps he thought he had disqualified himself. But then Jesus appeared—again at the lake—and repeated the miracle. Once more, empty nets became overflowing. It wasn’t just breakfast Jesus served—it was grace, a fresh start, and a reminder that failure isn't the end. Where do you need a second chance today?  What failure is Jesus meeting you in, ready to redeem it with grace? Reflect: If you were Peter, how would you feel seeing Jesus again after your failure? Pray: God of grace, thank you for never giving up on me. Restore what is broken in me and help me begin again. Amen.

Friday, August 8 – The Lord Over Chaos Read Genesis 1:1–5. In the beginning, the earth was formless and empty, darkness covering the deep. But God’s Spirit hovered over the waters. Then He spoke: “Let there be light.” From chaos came order, from darkness came light. God has been calming storms since the dawn of time—not only in creation but in hearts. His Spirit still hovers over our chaos, ready to bring life and hope. Reflect: What in your life feels “formless and void” right now? How might God’s Spirit be waiting to bring renewal? Pray: Creator God, speak light into my darkness and bring order to my chaos. Amen. x
