Devotion - Monday, July 28 – God Sees in the Dark

Read Psalm 139:11–12.

There are corners of our lives we’d rather keep hidden—regrets, failures, fears. Darkness feels safe because it hides. But Psalm 139 reminds us that even our darkness is light to God. He sees—and still loves.

Theologically, this is the doctrine of omnipresence: God’s presence fills all space, even the shadows of our souls. And it’s good news. He isn’t put off by what we hide. Instead, His light exposes and heals.

Reflect: What part of your heart have you kept hidden from God? How might His light bring healing there?

Pray: God, You see every shadow and love me still. Shine Your light in the hidden places of my life. Amen.

Yet in this upheaval, he declares confidence in God. Refuge isn’t a place where storms don’t exist—it’s where we are sheltered as they rage. God doesn’t promise a life free from trouble, but He offers Himself as a fortress when everything else shakes. We often place our trust in fragile refuges—careers, relationships, even our health. But true security lies in God’s unchanging presence. He alone provides the strength that sustains when all else fails. Reflect: Where do you instinctively run when life feels unstable? How can you make God your first refuge? Pray:  God, be my shelter in every storm. Teach me to rest in Your unshakable strength. Amen.

Sunday, March 23, 2025 Scripture: Psalm 63:1-8 Devotion: "O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." The psalmist's words capture that deep, primal longing we all feel—a thirst that only God can quench. Like parched ground that cracks open, waiting for rain, our lives often reveal a profound thirst for something more. We try to satisfy it with achievement, relationships, or possessions, but the soul knows what it truly needs. The psalmist found that satisfaction in God's presence, declaring "My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast." What are you thirsting for today? Where have you been looking for satisfaction? True fruitfulness begins with recognizing our deepest need—not just for what God gives, but for God's very presence. "Purchase with a Purpose": Rummage Sale, Bake Sale, Lunch - June 6 & 7, 2025

  Purchase with a Purpose This weekend, Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, your purchases at the Monroe United Methodist Church will make a meaningful difference in the lives of your neighbors. The event runs 8:30 am to 4:00 pm each day. We have gently-used furniture, household items, toys, home decor, Christmas and other decorations, books, bicycles, and many other items, all reasonably priced. Visit us as we join the Monroe Community Garage Sales this weekend! Money raised from the Rummage Sale will help the congregation offer ministries to serve our community. Funds from the Bake Sale will provide food for local families through our ministry partnership with Monroe Church of the Nazarene's Food Pantry. Lunch sales benefit the local mission projects of the Monroe UMC.
