Devotion - Tuesday, 08/05/2025 - "Stepping into Stillness"

Tuesday, August 5 – Stepping into Stillness

See Exodus 14:10–14.

The Israelites, trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, cried out in terror. Moses’ reply is stunning: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” They wanted action—escape, a plan, anything—but God called them first to trust.

Stillness doesn’t come naturally to us. We prefer to fix, plan, or flee. But sometimes God invites us to pause, to recognize we are not the savior of our story. God is. Stillness is not passivity but active trust in the God who delivers.

When the Red Sea parted, it wasn’t because Israel strategized—it was because God made a way where none existed. God still does.

Reflect: What battle are you fighting in your own strength? What would it look like to let God fight for you?

Pray: Lord, teach me to be still and trust Your power at work on my behalf. Amen.
